The world’s favourite superfamily is back.
Pixar finally dropped the highly anticipated teaser trailer (shown below) for the sequel to their 2004 hit the Incredibles.
The original Incredibles starred Holly Hunter, Craig T. Nelson, and Samuel L. Jackson, and was a huge success for the studio and director Brad Bird. Hunter and Nelson voiced a couple of retired superheroes that have settled down for a life in the suburbs with their children only to have their quiet life derailed by a new supervillain, Syndrome. The Parr family comes together and each uses their unique powers to save the city of Metroville, all while learning valuable lessons about trust and family. The ending of the film left the door open for a sequel and fans have been eagerly awaiting this announcement ever since.
Last July at D23, Pixar teased us with a clip of the youngest member of the Parr family, Jack-Jack, battling it out with a pesky raccoon, and ever since, the animated world has been abuzz with news about this sequel.
Today, we finally got a brief look at what we can expect from this upcoming release. The trailer focuses on Papa Parr discovering his baby boy’s multitude of powers, but the film’s official synopsis states that the film will put Elastigirl in the spotlight while Mr Incredible takes on more responsibility at home.
“It’s a tough transition for everyone, made tougher by the fact that the family is still unaware of baby Jack-Jack’s emerging superpowers,” the synopsis reads (courtesy of the trailer’s description). “When a new villain hatches a brilliant and dangerous plot, the family and Frozone (voice of Samuel L. Jackson) must find a way to work together again—which is easier said than done, even when they’re all Incredible.”
The Incredibles 2 is set to hit theaters on June 15, 2018.
