The wait is almost over, but boy, will the next 24 hours be agonizing.
After some pretty heavy-handed hinting on social media by the directing duo Joe and Anthony Russo–the minds behind Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), Captain America: Civil War (2016), and the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War, Marvel Entertainment has confirmed that the Avengers: Infinity War trailer is arriving.
The company’s YouTube channel released a video reflecting on the last ten years of Marvel, cutting footage from beloved superhero movies with fans’ reactions to those trailers, which include yelps, squeals, and the oh-so fitting statement, “Hype is getting real.” We see scenes of our favourite heroes–Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark/Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers/Captain America–in the time before they suited up to save the world. It then shifts to Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow ominously stating that what lies ahead for the vigilantes will push them to their limits. “This is nothing we were ever trained for,” she says. This, of course, is one of the standout lines from 2012’s Avengers.
There are also shots of the OG Avengers together in the streets of New York, a flash of Tom Hiddleston smiling devilishly as Loki, Iron Man quipping that he’s “bringing the party” to the others, and Chris Pratt’s Peter Quill/Star-Lord stating that he and Bradley Cooper’s Rocket Raccoon are going to be partners–all moments from Marvel Cinematic Universe movies past. But it wouldn’t be complete without appearances by Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes, Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang/Ant-Man, and Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange, all of whom will appear in Avengers: Infinity War.
But despite seeing so many familiar faces, fans are in for a complete shock and best strap themselves in for a wild ride with Avengers: Infinity War. “Everything you know, everything you’ve experienced, everything you’ve imagined, it has all been leading to this moment,” the teaser reads. It all ends with the official announcement that the Avengers: Infinity War trailer will be released tomorrow.

Avengers: Infinity War stars, well, too many Marvel actors to list here, but expect to see Josh Brolin, Tom Holland, Benedict Cumberbatch, Chadwick Boseman, Mark Ruffalo, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, Pom Klementieff, Karen Gillan, Dave Bautista, Don Cheadle, Anthony Mackie, and many more. The film is set to open in cinemas on May 4, 2018.
