Everyone’s favourite band of misfits are back. They’re not perfect, like most of the other superheroes in the Marvel Universe, but no one cares. They’re a dysfunctional family that make us all smile. Peter Quill/Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista), Rocket Racoon (Bradley Cooper) and Baby Groot (Vin Diesel) have officially joined forces after the events in Vol. 1, and are now working under the team “Guardians of the Galaxy.” Having made a name for themselves across countless planets, they return to our screens for Vol. 2.

This sequel has given us here at Geek Bomb so many feels that our expert mixologist Zhiana and graphic designer Mickey have combined their skills. After the success of their first drink creations for HBO’s Game of Thrones, they’ve decided to give Guardians of the Galaxy a go. Shout out to squaddie Julia for helping organise this.

Check out these Guardians-inspired drinks, and get your Baby Groot groove on!

Dance Off, Bro!

There are plenty of glorious moments in the Marvel blockbuster, but the best ones revolve around dance, because when you think of Guardians of the Galaxy, you think of dancing. The first film stole everyone’s hearts when it ended with baby Groot shaking his little leaves.Star-Lord used the power of dance as a tactic to distract villain Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace) when he sung and dance to The Five Stairsteps’ “O-O-H Child.”Dancing is everything in the Guardians world, so what are you waiting for? Get up and let’s have a “Dance Off, Bro!”Ingredients

  • 45mls Tequila
  • 15mls Triple sec
  • 90mls Mango juice
  • 30mls Lime juice
  • Dash of hot sauce, to taste
  • Sprinkle with chilli powder

Serve in a tall shot glass and enjoy.

There’s no better dance-off champion than Star-Lord. Have you heard his mixtape? He’s one with music, and there’s no beating that. But there’s more to this hero than just his toe-tapping skills.

Abducted from Earth as a child, this half-human, half-Celestial leader of the Guardians was raised by a group of alien outlaws. He’s overcome several obstacles in his life, most of them being quite traumatic. Yet here he is turning his life around and trying to do the right thing. The man even tried sacrificing himself to save everyone!

If you ever think you want to start turning your life around, pour yourself a “Star-Lord.”Ingredients

  • 45mls Gin
  • 20mls Ginger liqueur
  • 15mls Simple syrup
  • 1 drop of b’Lune butterfly pea flower extract (or plain blue food colouring)

Mix together and then add:

  • 20mls fresh lemon juice (helps change the colour)

Baby Groot

Groot is a tree-like humanoid that can only verbally communicated through the words, “I am Groot.” He can be seen alongside his best friend, Rocket Raccoon. Sacrificing himself to protect the team, Groot began growing again as a sapling at the end of the first film. Now, Groot is exploring his younger years in this current film.

Groot had to start over and is happier than ever, with extra pep in his step. Give yourself an extra boost of energy with the caffeine-filled “Baby Groot.”Ingredients

  • 45mls Irish Whiskey
  • 10mls Simple syrup
  • Drip of coffee

Serve with freshly whipped cream on top.

Rocket Raccoon

Rocket is Groot’s best friend, and the only one in the group who seems to truly understand what Groot is saying behind his limited verbal communication.

Rocket Raccoon is a genetically engineered raccoon who worked as a bounty hunter and mercenary. He’s also a master of weapons and military tactics. (This is one raccoon you don’t want to mess with.)

A small stature means nothing when it can pack a punch — which is exactly what the “Rocket Raccoon” drink can do.Ingredients

  • 45mls Dry sherry
  • 45mls Dry vermouth
  • Dash of orange bitters
  • Dash of aromatic bitters

Mix together and strain into chilled glass. Garnish with a lemon or orange twist.

Speaking of feisty, Gamora has a lot of built up anger. (She even worked as an assassin!) Gamora is an orphan from an alien world who sought redemption for her past crimes as an assassin for Thanos. The only female in the group, Gamora is often seen to be the voice of reason.

The “Gamora” is fizzy and refreshing — the perfect combo to inspire you to be your own voice of reason.Ingredients

  • 45mls Citrus vodka
  • 20mls Wheatgrass juice
  • 15mls Fresh lime juice
  • 10mls Agave nectar

Mix everything together and strain into a glass.

Drax the Destroyer

Thanos didn’t just negatively affect Gamora, he also caused grief for Drax. Drax is a highly skilled alien whose family was slaughtered by Thanos. Having been consumed with vengeance, Drax is now a much “funnier” person. But despite his appearance, he isn’t a bad guy.

Does your exterior not match your interior? You look one way, but are the opposite inside. The “Drax” is your type of drink: complex and unexpectedly sweet.Ingredients

  • 45mls Scotch
  • 20mls Cherry liqueur
  • 20mls sweet vermouth
  • 15mls beetroot purée

Mix everything together and strain into wine glass.
